About Us - GranTAZ

Our Founding Story

GranTAZ was started by Hamed Helisaz and Abdollah Safari, two statisticians who met during their Ph.D. studies at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC. They saw how expensive traditional statistical consulting could be and wanted to make expert analysis more affordable.

Their goal was to create a simple consulting model that uses the right level of expertise based on how complex the project is. GranTAZ focuses on offering affordable solutions for projects that need standard statistical methods, aiming to minimize overhead costs. This way, resources are used efficiently without losing quality.

Since it was founded on July 20th, 2021, GranTAZ has helped many projects succeed, whether in getting grants or completing important work.

Meet Our Founders

Hamed Helisaz

Co-founder and CEO

Hamed Helisaz is a statistician and data scientist with over 5 years of experience working as a data scientist and data analyst. He has experience working as a data scientist at Vancouver Coastal Health and The University of British Columbia, performing statistical analysis and writing grant proposals. Hamed received his Ph.D. in Applied Science from the University of British Columbia.

Abdollah Safari

Co-founder and CTO

Abdollah Safari is a statistician with an interest almost in every application of statistics. He has been involved in different types of projects from bioinformatics and biostatistics to marketing and advertisement, and collaborating with researchers from diverse educational backgrounds in academia and industry. In his last role, he was head of the Data, Analytics, Statistics, and Informatics (DASI) unit at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia. Abdollah received his Ph.D. in statistics from Simon Fraser University in 2017.
